Stripes, Stripes, and More Stripes!

I know I paint a lot of dots and chevron has become quite popular, but it seems like there sure has been a lot of stripes lately!  This 11x14 was custom painted to match some birthday party decorations.  This was on the front door greeting the guests.  What a great idea!

This 12x24 red, navy, and yellow design was a recent etsy order.  This one was designed to go with a nautical themed room.  I also painted another one exactly like it with a different name, of course, that was for a superhero themed room.  I forgot to snap a picture of that one!  I love that most designs are very versatile and can be used for a long time even if the decor changes.

This very large (18x24) and very beautiful monogram was ordered to go over a headboard.  The bedding has the gold and brown in it along with other earth tones.  This one is simple and classic.  I love it!

Finally, here's some stripes in the background with dots all around.  This was an 8x24 etsy order.  I've done this design several times and in several different colors.  It always turns out so pretty and is perfect for any little girl's room!

Show Us Your Life - Workout/Health Tips

Today I am linking up with Kelly's Korner to feature our health/workout tips.  Let me just start by saying that working out is NOT my strong suit.  I do try to walk 30 minutes a day, but honestly, sometimes I don't even get that done.  It's hard and I have so much admiration for those of you who make it a priority!

My family and I trained for the Titan's 5K last summer.  It helped for us all to have a goal and motivated us to work together.  It got everyone off the couch and out the door for a little while anyway!  We are going to do it again this year and maybe even look for another one in our area.

Could I Be More Random?

Some of these are new and some of these I've been holding on to for a while.  I can't seem to find the right time to post them, so I am posting them all at once!  That works, right?
This first set of three shipped out to Lindsey Chambers to go in a blue and yellow duck themed bathroom for the kids.  They turned out so cute and will look great hanging together.

This cute little 8x10 is for Elaine Alsup, who works with my husband, to hang in her office.  Apparently, she like to talk to herself but has a good reason!  I love this one!

This Kenny Chesney quote is a favorite and shipped out to Kentucky a while back.  This is a little larger version at 16x20.

Two of these UT canvases shipped out to a set of sisters who are proud graduates.  The other was a local order for a fan.  Either way, this canvas is perfect for anyone who loves their orange and white!

Whew!  I got all of that posted!  I've been painting like crazy and now I'm ready for some Fall Break!

Time Flies...

Has it really been over a week since I last posted?  Where does the time go?

I've been busier than usual (if you can believe that!) and blogging is one of those things that fell by the wayside.  I hate it when that happens, but I've not had time to sit in front of the computer and paint or put my thoughts together in a while.

I just finished this really cute sports canvas and shipped it out last week.  It is designed the match the PBK bedding that you can see by clicking here.  It was requested for the forest green in that example to be switched to navy blue.  This canvas has a lot of steps and takes a while to complete, but I am always so happy with the results.

The big news at our house is that Carter started playing elementary school basketball!

The kids both attend and I teach at Centertown Elementary School so we are all Warriors!  Carter has played in the Upward League for a couple of years, but this preseason tournament was his "professional" debut.

They ended up winning by two points in overtime.  I could barely teach today from the sore throat that I had as a result.  We get to do it all again on Thursday night.  I am looking forward to this season!

There's my son giving me a little look after their big win.  To me, he is still my little boy and in my mind he's small.  He looks so big on the court!

Way to go, Warriors!

Play It Where It Lies

I'd always heard that little saying, but never really knew where it came from.  Allison Eubanks wanted this Bobby Jones quote to hang in her son's room.  She requested blue and yellow and wanted to keep it simple and classic.

I did the lettering in a nice chocolate brown and added a bit of detailing along the border to tie it all together.  I love how this one turned out.  I think it is simple and neat and will never go out of style...just like the quote.

For The UT Fan...

How about some orange and white?  I was sent all of these University of Tennessee words and asked to put them all on one canvas.  It took quite a bit of rearranging - and rearranging again - to get it all the way I wanted!

I think it turned out pretty darn cute in the end.  I'd love to see it done for other schools as well.  Of course, you would have to send me all of your words, too!

Spring Training

I've never been a sports person. Never. I met my husband, who is a sports nut, and played along while we were dating. I learned quite a bit and have developed a bit of appreciation for all sports. I went to events to eat and people watch. It's just not my thing.
Then this boy came along. I will go anywhere, anytime to watch him. He loves all sports but baseball is the highlight of his year. Possibly of his life. He's not the best player, but he's my player.
He had a practice tonight and I went for a while. It felt good to see him out there, go for a walk, watch Lauren run wild, and slip back into ball park mode!

All of this sports talk is leading up to a canvas!

Little Nehemiah must be a sports nut, too.

His mom ordered this 8x24 for his bedroom and I think it is just so "boy". I love it! She ordered one a while back for his brother and wanted this one to coordinate but not be exactly the same. This is so cute for brothers! Thank you so much, Tissan!

Good Sports

Sometimes the men and boys in our lives are the hardest to buy for. I know that's the case when I try to shop for Mike and Carter. How about a nice quote or sign for their office or room? I love the choice above for athletes. It looks great in any favorite team color combination!

This teacher is a big football, baseball, and basketball fan. The canvas is also done in school colors. This will look so good hanging outside his classroom door. It's hard, but I try to keep things masculine!

Coach Logan is going to have the best looking office door in whole school! Thank you so much for the orders, Stephanie and Hailey!

Malachi

I've got more stripes and sports for you! I haven't gotten to do very many boy canvases lately, and then all of a sudden there were bunches! This 8x24 canvas is on its way to Florida right now.

New customer Tissan Howard wanted her son's name and a sports theme to match his room. She requested lots of red and navy as well. I did a wavy border instead of the usual rectangular one. I think it turned out really cute!

Here's Malachi's super cute room. I can just see the canvas hanging on that bright blue accent wall. Thank you, Tissan! I hope you and sweet little Malachi love your artwork!

Aiden

This 16x20 canvas is off to the Cameron family in Texas. It was specifically designed to match Pottery Barn Kids' Junior Varsity bedding. Sports bedding is so often done in primary colors. I love that this is in earth tones.

Since the bedding features a quilted look with lots of visible stitches, I made sure there was some of that on the canvas, too. These stripes took forever and a day, but it was totally worth it!

Here's the bedding. That canvas is going to look so cute hanging over the bed. I've got several more boy canvases coming! Stay tuned!

Picture Frame

One of my most favorite customers, Kristen Hardison, ordered a very special canvas for a grandparent in her life. She had the brilliant idea to combine a photograph and a canvas. I love it!
"Pops" is a Western Kentucky University Hilltoppers fan and actually a faculty member as well. She has the cutest photo of her son and Pops in their WKU shirts. I didn't post it because I don't have Kristen's permission. Trust me...it's cute!
Now this special memory has a special place to match!

Carter and Football

My sweet boy is so sick! Mike and I have both taken days off to stay home with him this week. I was so thankful for the day off yesterday. We thought he was having a bad allergic reaction to all of the grass and pollen from Easter weekend. He is highly allergic to hay! However, we found out (after a chest x-ray in Murfreesboro this morning) that he has pneumonia in his right lung.

Now he is on a strong antibiotic. His oxygen levels are good and he is a big, strong boy. Even though I am worried sick, I know he is going to be fine. Thank you so much to all of you who have been asking about him.

I was looking for the perfect picture of him to post and I came across this one that my sister send me from her phone a long time ago. I mean a long time! Apparently she took him to TSC when he was little. This is so funny!

Look at that face! Don't you just want to eat him up? You all might not think this is as funny as I do, but I needed the laugh today.

Because I feel like I should include a canvas in every post, here is a really cute football themed canvas. Carter loves all sports and it doesn't matter which one is in season. Even though baseball is in full swin, he is obsessed with the NFL draft right now. This 8x10 is perfect for any little sports lovin' little boy's room!

Eastlan

Kristin Green ordered her son's name for his nursery. She wanted to match one that I did for big brother, Anden, a while back.

They are not exactly the same, but definitely coordinate. I love the big red ribbons on the top! These are 6x9 canvases. I know they look adorable hanging above his crib.

She also wanted a coordinating sign for the door. I used the same shades of blue, red, and cream. I used a different font but kept the stitching detail. This time it's a big blue ribbon! Thank you so much for this big order, Kristin! Congratulations to you and your family!

Practice Makes Perfect

Holly Hodges ordered this quote for her son, Christian. He is in high school and wants to play basketball in college. Holly knows how much hard work is going to have to go into achieving that dream. I thought it was so sweet that she wanted something to keep him motivated.
Christian was one of my very favorite second graders waaayyyy back in the day! He's such a sweet, funny boy. I hope he gets all of that and more.

Holly asked for school colors of orange, blue, and white. I kept with the stripes and simple print font to (hopefully) keep it more masculine. I love the white glaze over the stripes in the center. This is a 16x20 and costs $40.00. Thank you, Holly!

Volleyball

A custom gift for a special girl who loves her volleyball! I was a volleyball player in high school. Thank goodness I don't have a picture to go with that statement. I don't know how I played with hair that big!
Painting the volleyball was harder than I thought it would be. All of those stripes and shading have to line up just right. I do love her navy, lime, and white color choices. The lettering is also so cute. I hate that the picture didn't turn out a little better.

You all have a great rest of the week!

For The Georgia Fan...

This one is being shipped off to Athens, Georgia, today. Rachel Harvey ordered it for a special teacher who happens to be a big Georgia fan. Naturally, she wanted it in red, black and white! She said for me to do swirls or dots or whatever I wanted. I decided to do a little different design. It turned out so pretty!

I had to feature this new black and white ribbon. I absolutely love the print and it just went perfectly with this canvas. I added the little strip of red to tie it all together.

Play Ball, Again!

I've kind of got a baseball theme going here! Since I posted the ballplayer on Saturday, I thought I would go ahead and share this little cutie. This 5x5 baseball was ordered by Gwen McCormack for her son, Brady.
I love the simplicity. The red stitches really stand out and are perfectly accented with the large red satin ribbon. Carter need one of these for his door!

Play Ball!

A large, beautiful, very detailed 16x20 baseball themed canvas for Anden Green's nursery. Kristin liked the ballerina I did a while back, but wanted a ballplayer instead.

She requested blues and reds to match the artwork already in his room. She was also specific about the wording on the jersey, the background, what is in his hands, etc. I don't get the opportunity to get so detailed. I enjoyed the challenge and taking my time with this one.
Thank you, Kristin! I hope it is just what you had in mind!
