Girly Girls!

Oooohhh...I love all the pastels!  I especially love them this time of the year when I'm fall colored out and about to overdose on red and green!  It's always nice to expand my color palette just a wee bit.  This sweet 10x10 princess verse for Cassi shipped out a little while back.

This one of my absolute favorite quotes for the baby nursery.  However, it would be really special for any child.  I think it would be perfect for adoptive parents as well.  This is a really pretty color combination of hot pink, lime, gray, and navy.

Here's the same quote with hearts instead of dots.  Wouldn't this be cute with stars and in blues and yellows, too?  This 11x14 also features a purple, lavender, and pink color combination.

Here's two more of the princess canvases for a set of sisters, Maddie and Marley.  So sweet!

Nothin' But Love

These 11x14 song lyric canvases have become very popular.  I can see why - aren't they just the sweetest things?

They are perfect hanging with a collage of wedding photos.  They are also great for the husband (or wife's!) office.  They can also be done in any color combination.

I can do other songs - the lyrics just can't be too long.  I also love painting special Bible verses.  This one has always been one of my personal favorites.  It turned out beautifully for this couple's anniversary.

Happily Ever After...

Jessica Alford is my daughter's third grade teacher.  We'd never met until she cam to Centertown this year.  I have to admit that Lauren was a little nervous about having a "new teacher", but Mrs. Alford has been so sweet to her.  She's won Lauren over!

Jessica has a really sweet little girl, Aubrey Lee.  She wanted something for her room in their new house.  She asked for chevron, pinks and purples, and this wonderful quote.  I added some rhinestones to the crown because it sounds like Aubrey is a typical girlie girl!!

I did this one as an experiment for one of my summer art classes.  I added some really special touches and think it turned out really pretty.   There's lots of shading on the castle and the sky is full of stars.  When you see it in person, it has a fine coating of glitter for added sparkle!

I added the wording with a little girl's room or playroom in mind, but how perfect would this be for a princess themed wedding or shower decoration?

More Weddings

I told you I'd been painting a lot for weddings lately!  I wasn't kidding...here's a few more!  Here's a really pretty set of wedding song lyrics.  This one is a little different because of it's square size and that it has the hand stamping all in the background.

This is a large 16x20 size.  I love the huge initial in the background with the couples' name over the top.  It's very simple and clean.  They gave me the ribbon to use on the top and to match the colors.

Here's a couple of the established canvases.  This one features some really pretty earth tones with just a hint of red.  I also like the swirls in the background.

This one is a little plainer, but still just as beautiful.  If features a truly earth tone palette with the cream, khaki, and chocolate brown all topped off with a chocolate satin ribbon.

I thought this was a great idea for a wedding...a thumbprint tree!  I left it unsealed so guests could put their thumbprints as the leaves when they signed in.  What a fabulous keepsake for the bride and groom!

Weddings

It's that time of the year...wedding season!  I paint lots and lots of established canvases, monograms, and the newer song lyric design right around this month.  They do make great gifts and decorations!  I love these two simple, classic B monograms that I did for my co-worker, Dana Grissom.  

  

Here's some pretty first dance song lyrics in the custom colors of teal and gray.

And another set of wedding song lyrics in teal and brown.  This one wanted the name and date added at the bottom.

This Bible verse was in the wedding vows and is just perfect on a canvas.  This one is also in teal and brown and has the name and date at the bottom.

Finally, one more set of wedding song lyrics, this time in the requested colors of purple and brown.  I'm so happy to be a tiny part of all of these couples' special days.  Congratulations to you all!

Blessed

Stephanie Vance in Woodbury, Tennessee ordered this 16x20 quote for her bedroom.  She says that the walls are a chocolate brown and the bedding is gray and white.  I thought the white background of the canvas would really stand out on that dark wall.

I also did the word "blessed" in the background in gray to tie in that bedding color.  I think it turned out really pretty and is such a sweet saying.  Thank you, Stephanie!  It was a pleasure!

Stripes, Stripes, and More Stripes!

I know I paint a lot of dots and chevron has become quite popular, but it seems like there sure has been a lot of stripes lately!  This 11x14 was custom painted to match some birthday party decorations.  This was on the front door greeting the guests.  What a great idea!

This 12x24 red, navy, and yellow design was a recent etsy order.  This one was designed to go with a nautical themed room.  I also painted another one exactly like it with a different name, of course, that was for a superhero themed room.  I forgot to snap a picture of that one!  I love that most designs are very versatile and can be used for a long time even if the decor changes.

This very large (18x24) and very beautiful monogram was ordered to go over a headboard.  The bedding has the gold and brown in it along with other earth tones.  This one is simple and classic.  I love it!

Finally, here's some stripes in the background with dots all around.  This was an 8x24 etsy order.  I've done this design several times and in several different colors.  It always turns out so pretty and is perfect for any little girl's room!

Eat Pray Love

I'm back from spring break and feeling very much recharged.  I took a little girl's trip to the Smoky Mountains.  We just laid around in our cabin, read, got in the hot tub, and even did some yoga!  We also did bunches of shopping, went to the Hatfield and McCoy's dinner show, and even the Titanic museum...talk about a bunch of tourists!

Today it is back to the real world...

One of my favorite customers, Andrea Brock-Pierce, ordered this 10x10 for her kitchen.  To coordinate, she asked for a few touches of red.  I added that in the ribbon, the trim, and the buttons.

I absolutely love this vintage postal trim.  I also love the distressing and the vintage buttons.  I also added the brown and taupe pearls and flower.  So pretty!

Love People...

What a cool order is this?  I love this quote and these cheery colors!  It's also got some light distressing around the edges to give it a vintage feel.

 

This etsy order was placed to give as a gift for a friend who loves this saying.  This large 12x24 would brighten up any kitchen and look great in any color combination.  Do you know anyone who loves to cook some tasty food?

The Classics

The classics - a nice font, cream, khaki, black, brown, satin ribbon - they just never go out of style.  These canvases will look just as on trend ten years from now as they do right now.

There are those few designs that I just keep coming back to and painting over and over again.  The initial in the background, the polite remove your shoes sign, and a beautiful Bible verse are just a few of the classics.

They are perfect for any age in any situation - newlyweds or the 40th wedding anniversary, a brand new starter house or a retirement dream home.

Song Lyrics

Lisa Garrison wanted a special Christmas gift for her son and his wife.  She chose some song lyrics that were special to them.  She even sent me a pic of the album cover as inspiration for the colors to use.

I thought the black and coral looked so pretty together.  I don't get ti use that color combination very often.  I topped it off with some polka dot ribbon.  What a great gift!

This set of song lyrics that were an etsy order that shipped out a while back before Christmas.  This one asked for black, white, and red.  I topped this one off with a wide red satin ribbon.  How cute would your special song lyrics be as a Valentine gift?

End of the Year Lists

My favorite thing about this time of the year is all of the lists.  My stocking was full of magazines with the top ten movies of the year, books of the year, and (my most favorite of all) best and worst dressed.  Yes, Santa knows that I love a good list!  I decided that my final post of the year should be a couple of lists.  Here's a list pf my top ten favorite canvases from the wonderful year that was 2012...

10.  K, L, and Y monograms - this made the list because I think they are so pretty together and a true complete set.  There is a lot of detail work (and dots!) in each one.  Also, the mom was so sweet and has ordered so many pretty pieces for these girls' rooms!

9. Merry Christmas from the Blacks -  this made the list because it marked a challenge overcame for me.  Getting dots, stripes, and a Santa all on the same canvas was no small feat.

8. The Meredith Prayer - this made the list because I sort of tear up every time I paint it.  I've painted it lots of times since, but this is the original.  All of the things a kid needs are right here.

7. The Bathroom Set - this made the list because it is a classic.  I don't know how many bathroom sets I've painted over the years and I know there's too many dots to count.  This one particular set was my favorite of the year because of the color combination...all of my favorites!

6. I Love You Forever - this made the list because it is an experiment that turned out beautifully.  I tried the scalloped edges and dots in varying sizes for the first time.  It turned out just like I had it pictured in my head and, trust me, that doesn't always happen!

5. Teacher's Canvases - this made the list because this is probably what I paint the most.  I also happen to love honoring teachers and creating special gifts for them.  I chose these two to represent teacher canvases because that owl and that worm in the apple are just so bright and happy.  I know the kids like to see them coming down the hall!  

4. Mary Claire - this one made the list just because I love it.  Plain and simple.  I love everything about it from the colors and the font to the stripes and little rosebuds.  Love it.

3. The New Wedding Design - this one made the list because it is the new hit of the year.  This design first showed up with the Avett Brothers song lyrics pictures above with a wedding name and date below.  It quickly look off into lots of other wedding songs and then to special Bible verses.  

2. The Pooh Quote - this made the list because it never gets old.  I've painted this super sweet Christopher Robin quote so many times and in so many different ways it's not even funny.  I even shipped one to Australia!  This one was chosen out of all of the others because it is so different.  It was meant to match the little girl's bedding and just turned out perfectly.  I love it when that happens!

1. Austie - this made the list because of the unusual color combination and challenging pattern combinations.  It moved up the list because I love "The Help" and Audrey Hepburn quotes.  It topped the list because the whole entire set works so well together.  So pretty!
