Rustic Monograms

Oh, I've been doing some really pretty rustic monograms lately.  This large B monogram is unique because the family name is written in the side of the letter.  I love it!  I topped this one off with some fall colored sunflower ribbon.

This R monogram features a twig frame.  It took forever to break all of the sticks to the same length and glue them on there - but it was worth it!

I kept the actual letter a little unfinished looking and added some twine for hanging.  It looks pretty cute on my front door - maybe I need an M!!

Baby Boys

New customer April Payne liked the birth announcement canvas design that I have available on etsy.  She wanted to make a few changes to make it perfect for her son's nursery.  She requested the light blue and sage green argyle on the top canvas and the stripes on the bottom canvas.

Instead of the name at the top, she wanted a fancy monogram - which I think turned out sooo pretty!  Since these are done in a little larger size (11x14 and 8x10) I was able to put the name on the bottom canvas like wanted as well.  I just love this one!

Believe it or not, this one is for a completely different nursery.  I just happened to have these two orders using exactly the same colors during the same week.  Isn't this just the sweetest quote for a nursery?

Weddings

It's that time of the year...wedding season!  I paint lots and lots of established canvases, monograms, and the newer song lyric design right around this month.  They do make great gifts and decorations!  I love these two simple, classic B monograms that I did for my co-worker, Dana Grissom.  

  

Here's some pretty first dance song lyrics in the custom colors of teal and gray.

And another set of wedding song lyrics in teal and brown.  This one wanted the name and date added at the bottom.

This Bible verse was in the wedding vows and is just perfect on a canvas.  This one is also in teal and brown and has the name and date at the bottom.

Finally, one more set of wedding song lyrics, this time in the requested colors of purple and brown.  I'm so happy to be a tiny part of all of these couples' special days.  Congratulations to you all!

Sweet Ila Mae's: The After

I offered a new service at Sweet Ila Mae's...personalization on the spot!  It was a big hit!  I had several canvases that I had embellished, but left off any wording.  Customers could purchase the canvas and let me fill it in while they shopped.  Here's a few...

Stripes, Stripes, and More Stripes!

I know I paint a lot of dots and chevron has become quite popular, but it seems like there sure has been a lot of stripes lately!  This 11x14 was custom painted to match some birthday party decorations.  This was on the front door greeting the guests.  What a great idea!

This 12x24 red, navy, and yellow design was a recent etsy order.  This one was designed to go with a nautical themed room.  I also painted another one exactly like it with a different name, of course, that was for a superhero themed room.  I forgot to snap a picture of that one!  I love that most designs are very versatile and can be used for a long time even if the decor changes.

This very large (18x24) and very beautiful monogram was ordered to go over a headboard.  The bedding has the gold and brown in it along with other earth tones.  This one is simple and classic.  I love it!

Finally, here's some stripes in the background with dots all around.  This was an 8x24 etsy order.  I've done this design several times and in several different colors.  It always turns out so pretty and is perfect for any little girl's room!

Yellowy Goodness!

It's almost spring time!  My favorite color changes all of the time, but yellow is always right up there at the top.  Always has been.  It is just the perfect color for spring!

It was always yellow and baby pink.  And then I did a lot of yellow and lime.  All of those were pretty, but the yellow and gray combination is so fresh and modern.  I love it!  Pair that color combo with chevron, and it is a match made in heaven!

This one was ordered to match a baby shower invitation.  It was going to be used on the table as decoration and then on to the nursery.  I love that idea - so smart!  Thank you so much for the order, Whitney!

This yellow is a little paler but still oh so pretty!  It is paired with navy blue and light blue - along with that gorgeous gray.  This one was painted for a third brother.  Click here and here to see the other two matching ones.  I saw that pic of baby Carter that you sent me when he was born - how sweet!!!  Congrats on the new baby, Laura!

Shower Curtain Coordinate

Isn't this saying just the sweetest?  I've done it for several bedrooms and nurseries, but this is the first time for the bathroom.  It's for a sibling shared bathroom and was designed to match their custom shower curtain.  I love these bright colors and all of the dots and stripes!

The shower curtain is not exactly like this, but you get the idea!  I couldn't find the exact picture or link that I used to paint the canvas.  This etsy shop makes shower curtains, bed spreads, and all kinds of custom goodies.  I haven't ordered anything from them...yet!

Burlap Beauties

I am loving the burlap trend!  I have a huge burlap snowflake on my front door right now that I'm going to hate to take down very soon.  I am shopping for something cute for spring to replace it!  I did my Christmas tree with burlap garland and bought new burlap stockings.  I use burlap for my table decorations anytime we have a party or get-together.  

I decided to experiment with some burlap and canvas.  I painted the canvas a taupe/tan color and then wrapped it completely in burlap.  All of the staples are on the back and don't show.  Next, I painted whatever lettering I wanted.  I do have to use more paint than usual.  This stuff really soaks it up!  Finally, I added some burlap flowers using a good fabric glue.  Viola!  Burlap beauties!

This one is a surprise for my Pay It Forward participant #2 - Lindsey Chambers!  It has already shipped out to her and I hope she loves it!

This was my very first burlap experiment and I am so happy with how it turned out - sweet and simple.  It shipped out to my Pay It Forward participant #1 - Brittney Hodges.  She got it, loved it, and blogged about it here.  I was so glad to hear that I made her day!

Polka Dots and Date Nights

Mike and Lauren have been going to the Father/Daughter Date Night for a few years now.  Neither of them were really fired up about it this year and we had a busy weekend that weekend already.  As an alternative, they decided to go to The Little Mermaid at the Cannon County Arts Center.  Carter and I have the tradition of having a Mother/Son Date Night on that same night.  Our night usually consists of pizza and a movie, maybe a video game or some horse.  Fun stuff!  He did bring me flowers this year!

Here's the sweet couple on their big night.  Lauren was already dolled up from the Snow Princess pageant.  All she had to do was put on a cute outfit and they were ready to roll.  They had dinner in the Art Center cafe and said it was really good.  It was fun to spend time with Carter alone and I know Mike and Lauren enjoyed their time, too.

It seems like I've been painting tons of dots lately.  I always paint a lot of dots, but this seems like even more than usual.  I'm not complaining...I love dots!  This large 24x24 etsy order shipped out last week.  I did add red ribbon after this photo was taken.  It topped it off just perfectly!

I love the color choices and the clean, crisp font.  I know this is going to look fabulous over the baby bed but what's so great about it is that it would also look just as fabulous over a big boy or a teen bed, too!

This Post Is Brought To You By The Letter R

Let me just say that I love, love, love this 16x20 monogram.  I think this color combination is my favorite.  If you've ever been in my house, you know why...these are my colors!

This was an etsy order for a beautiful baby nursery that shipped out last week.  I worked so hard to incorporate all of the requested colors in a cohesive way.  I also like that just the first initial was used instead of the whole name.

I was given a photo of a picture frame that have this pattern around the matting.  I just fell in love with it and added down the sides.  I've never used this design before but I hope to see it again soon.  Maybe on something for Spring?
