Show Us Your Life - Halloween Costumes

Today I am linking up with Kelly's Korner to show off some Halloween costumes.  I can't wait to go browse all of the other blogs!  Unfortunately, I haven't gotten it together enough to take pictures of this year's costumes.  I will share that Lauren is a candy fairy (her idea!) and that Carter has decided not to dress up.  This is his first year to go without a costume and I'm not sure how I feel about it!

This is from my first year blogging.  Lauren was Cinderella and Carter was a Titans football player.  He had the whole helmet and  uniform, but as the night wore on he shed those.

The next year, Lauren was a fairy and Carter was Indiana Jones.  I tried to get him to be Captain Hook and do one of those cute theme costumes.  He wouldn't go for it.

The following year Lauren was a snow princess (are you sensing a theme here?) and Carter was a werewolf.  This was the first year he wanted a "scary" costume.  I don't like the really scary ones, so we had to compromise.

Last year I made Lauren use her costume from her dance recital.  It was so cute and paid for!  She was a waitress so we added the cat-eye glasses, a tray with fake food, and an order pad.  She loved it!  Carter wore his dad's referee top with his black track pants, tennis shoes, and a whistle.  Easy and comfy!  He looked so cute and I hate that I couldn't find his picture.

I decided to also share some of my favorite Halloween canvases.  The witch legs were one of my very first Halloween designs and are always fun!

 

This special witch legs canvas was for a mother, daughter, and pet - how cute!

Here's my two favorite versions of BOO!  The three canvases strung together are perfect for the front door and I just love all the colors and patterns.  The larger canvas features my favorite Halloween decoration - spiderwebs!

 

The two little sweeties have the holiday polka dots are are perfect to go in a wreath.

Pineapples and Pumpkins

I've painted several pineapples over the summer even though they are popular all year round.  This pineapple design with the black and khaki looks so nice on the front door.

This was an etsy order for that same design in lavender and purple for a business.  I had never tried it with those colors, but it turned out really cute!

It's that time of the year for me to switch from pineapples to pumpkins!  Here is that same khaki and cream polka dot design with a pumpkin instead of a pineapple.  It looks great with "welcome", a last name, a monogram, or a little saying.

Here's just the big pumpkin with some really pretty lettering.  This is perfect for all of you who are not as crazy about polka dots as I am!  This also makes a wonderful wedding shower gift and decoration for all of those fall weddings.

This large 16x20 pumpkin design has been very popular on etsy this fall - with the "welcome" and without.  This one looks so good propped up on the mantle.

My favorite might just be this classic pumpkin.  It works in the house, on the door, or in a wreath.  This design can also be done on just about any size canvas.

Love it with just an initial, too!

Catching Up...

We just had the most wonderful fall break with our family in Perdido Key, FL. Sometimes you just need to get away, stretch out in the sun, and breath in some warm, salty air. It does the body, mind, and spirit good!

Before we left, Phyllis Graham ordered these three little cuties for her Bunco group. I am not into Bunco and I'm not sure how it all works, but it sure sounds like fun! I love the little witch boot all topped off with gingham ribbon.

My absolute favorite saying for fall! I love the really big orange polka dots, too!

I bet I've painted fifty pumpkins this season. They are more popular than ever! This one have a little glitter and lime green polka dotted sparkly ribbon.

I've finally got done unpacking and am now preparing for parent/teacher conferences. I am hoping to get back on my regular painting schedule after that. I know that many of you placed your orders for Christmas and are in no hurry. For those of you waiting, thank you so much for your order and your patience!

Boo To You!

Rustic Love and a Sneak Peek

Shonda's order has been number one on my to do list for what seems like forever! She has been so patient! She ordered a couple of canvases that she wanted antiqued and very rustic. This 4x12 for the bathroom is so cute! I love the antique/distressed finish and the burlap ribbon.

This is the hold up. It took me for-ev-er to find, break, and glue all of these little sticks. It takes a lot more than you would think to go around a 12x24 canvas. There will never be another one like this!

Here's a full shot so you can see just how many sticks I'm talking about. I really like this outdoor scene. This one has been antiqued and distressed as well. It also has burlap ribbon, but I knotted the center instead of a bow.

Here's a little sneak peek of a canvas for the Autumn Street Fair. It is October 1st in downtown McMinnville. I'll have lots of new fall, Halloween, and Christmas designs!

Happy Halloween!

I can't believe Halloween is upon us. It always seems to sneak up on me. I've got the kids' costumes and trick-or-treating plans set...but this coming weekend? Really? Where did October go?

Who's Ready?

For Halloween! Kayla Morton is getting her front door all spruced up with this cute 8x24 witch legs canvas. This is one of my all time favorite designs - those striped tights are just too cute!

I've also whipped up these two for the Halloween season. Both the 5x5 "Boo" trio and the 11x14 "Happy Halloween" are currently available at Et Cetera. All of these and many more will also be available at Autumn Street Fair on October 2. Come see me!

A New Season

Here's the first Halloween canvas of the year! For some reason, I love painting Halloween canvases. This cute little witch boot topped off with gingham ribbon is currently available at Et Cetera. I am hoping to have many more things up there soon.

This is completely unrelated, but I wanted to share a photo of Carter's first day of third grade. He is really looking forward to this year. Lauren's first day of kindergarten is tomorrow. I have mixed emotions about that. She is really excited, so I will be, too!

I Heart October

I just love October. It is my favorite month. I love the weather, the decorations, Halloween, the leaves, and of course, fall break!
Today is the perfect day to share Hillari's pumpkin. I am so doing one of these with"the Mansfields" in the center for my front door. This is a large 16x16 canvas with a light purple with dark purple dots. The pumpkin features orange on orange dots with black piping. There are even brown on brown dots on the stem!
I used my "go to" font for her name in black in the center. I know you can't tell in the photo, but the whole thing is covered in a beautiful gold glitter and topped with purple satin ribbon. Just what she asked for! She is going to make all of the other teachers jealous!

Getting Ready!

I am getting ready for Saturday! The Autumn Street Fair is one of my favorite days of the whole year. Not only do I get to spend the day outdoors talking art, I get to see so many people. There are always lots of new faces, which I enjoy, but it is those old friends and customers that make my day. I live in the same small town as many of you, but rarely get to actually see you.

I also think it is funny that I don't know what some of best customers even look like! So many of us communicate with email and I mail you finished orders or do a drop-off delivery and we never actually meet. If that's the case, please come and introduce yourself!

Hillari Hale ordered the witch legs completely customized to fit her family. She wanted "Mommy" legs, daughter "Claire" legs, and "Gracee" the black cat. This turned out so cute and is just a reminder to take the designs I offer and make them your own. I am more than happy to work with you to make your canvas personal.

Boo!

I did this boo canvas for my friend, Tabetha Sullens. When I delivered it to her mom's house, her mom decided to keep it! That's okay. I've made lots more! This is a new design this year and I just love it. I hope it is a big hit at the street fair.

I am planning to get in the attic this afternoon and pull out all of my Halloween and fall stuff. I am kind of in the mood to decorate. I am really in the mood to get rid of all of these summer clothes! Bring on the cool weather!

Witch Legs

I just love these long skinny legs (nothing like my own! ha!). These, of course, are the witch legs, but I do also have an elf version for Christmas. The wording on these two reads "Witch way to the candy?", but I could put anything you like on there. The one with the black ribbon is sold, but the orange one is available.

Trick or Treat

Is it too early to be thinking of fall and Halloween? I am not a big fan of super hot weather, and even though this has been a blissfully mild summer, I am so ready so ready for that little nip in the air.
I did have a reason to do these! Shannon in Cookeville, Tennessee, ordered a Halloween trio to fit in that little hard-to-fit nook. She asked for a boo, a witch hat, and witch shoes. She didn't want beads or ribbons. They look so cute standing on their own or on an easel.
The top design is a smaller version of last season's witch legs. I have two available for $15.00 each. They both feature glass Halloween beading. It would be a great teacher gift, to go in a wreath, or for your hard-to-fit place!

On My Door This Halloween

I just finished this new "Boo". I hung it on my door to photograph it and I love it! I thought it was pretty cute while working on it, but seeing the finished product was even better. Halloween and fall are my favorite times of the year, especially for decorating.

I got the idea when Rachel asked me to do the three little animals. I got lots of positive comments about the three connecting cnavases and tried to use that elsewhere. Maybe there will be a "Ho, ho, ho" coming soon!

Fall Preview

Mileah Knowles ordered a 5x5 pumpkin during the recent sale and it got me all fired up about fall. That is my absolute favorite time of the year and my favorite theme for painting. I do have to start now to keep up with orders and be ready for the Autumn Street Fair on October 3rd. I know that seems far away, but it be here before I turn around!

I took the same pumpkin and font from Mileah's and used it on a 4x12 and an 8x24. I haven't added ribbons or beads to these yet, but I already love them! That small one would be gorgeous in a fall wreath.

This is my first using my new Halloween ideas. The outside is purple on purple polka dots and the inside is black on black spiderweb. There are small orange dots in the white border. I have some really cute polka dotted and gingham ribbons ready! This one hasn't had the pencil line erased or sealed, but I couldn't wait to share it!

The Mansfield Kiddos

We started our Halloween with trick-or-treating at church last Sunday night. Lauren is a fairy and Carter is Indiana Jones. They went trick-or-treating again on Wednesday night with my parents at their church. Friday is their parties at school.
It has been nice having all of the activities spread out, but I am wondering where do we have left to go on Halloween night? I am trying to talk them into staying home, carving a pumpkin, and actually being here to give out candy. We certainly do not need to take any more in!
