More From the Pumpkin Patch

I finished a couple more pretty pumpkins this weekend and wanted to share them. The top one is for newlywed Holly Elkins Luna. It has a chocolate brown background and she requested black accents for a more elegant look. I think she was right!

This pumpkin has a burgundy background and a harvest gold ribbon. This one is a gift for one of my best customers, Angela Cargile. She is the one who came up with the black and khaki family canvases that have become very popular. I wanted to thank her for ordering from me and for coming back again and again. She was pretty excited! I was so happy to do something nice for her.

Pumpkin Patch

I was painting at the kitchen table the other night. When Mike walked through, he said he felt like he was "in a pumpkin patch". I had an assembly line of pumpkins going to fill orders, but also to have some available for the Autumn Street Fair.
These sweet little jack-o-lanterns are $15 each and can be done with any color background, ribbons or beads, and saying or family name. Keep these in mind for your Halloween teacher/secretary/special friend/secret pal gifts!

The Bonds

Angela Bond is a newlywed and wanted something with their family name for their home. She liked the stripes and the colors on the blog, so I used that as the inspiration for this canvas. I think it looks so pretty with this wide satin ribbon.

Scarecrows

New this fall...scarecrows! I've been looking for something new for fall. When I had two people in one week ask for a scarecrow, I knew what it should be! I worked on the design this week and this is what I came up with. Isn't he cute? One background is chocolate and one is burgundy. They would look great in any fall color combination.
There is also a 12x24 version that is almost ready to share as well. I can't wait!

These two 5x5's have beautiful glass beaded handles. Some of the beads are little owls, pumpkins, and, yes, even scarecrows. The others are pretty fall colors with a little sparkle.

My little "ham" will jump at any chance to get in front of the camera...even when mom is working!

Magnificent Monograms

This beautiful monogram belongs to Mileah Knowles. She asked for navy blue, sky blue, and left the rest up to me! I fell in love with this very intricate font when I did the "S" version a while back.
My kitchen is navy blue and yellow, and let me tell you, this canvas looked pretty in there for the pictures! I am going to have to sit some time aside and do one for myself.

Lady Vols Fan

"Miss Erika" Knowles is a Lady Vols fan. When her sister ordered this canvas for her birthday gift, she wanted the colors to show that. Usually for a UT canvas, I only get asked to use the orange and white. I was excited when Mileah asked me to be sure to include the light blue.
It is topped off with light blue sheer and orange gingham ribbon. This will look really cute in her classroom!

Goolsby Sausage

Mandy Byars at Goolsby's Sausage wanted a welcome sign for their new offices. She wanted it to reflect the color, shape, and feel of their business logo. I love the bright red and white and thought the gingham ribbon adds that "country" touch.

We All Need A Smile

When I got to work this morning, I had received the hilarious email from one of the bright, funny women I work with, Teresa Walker. I just had to share!! I think all women can relate to at least a few of these. Have a wonderful day!

PREGNANCY
Q & A & MORE!
Q: Should I have a baby after 35? A: No, 35 children is enough.
Q : I'm two months pregnant now. When will my baby move? A: With any luck, right after he finishes college.
Q : What is the most reliable method to determine a baby's sex? A: Childbirth.
Q: My wife is five months pregnant and so moody that sometimes she's borderline irrational.
A: So what's your question?
Q: When is the best time to get an epidural? A: Right after you find out you're pregnant.
Q : Is there any reason I have to be in the delivery room while my wife is in labor?
A: Not unless the word 'alimony' means anything to you.
Q: Is there anything I should avoid while recovering from childbirth? A: Yes, pregnancy.
Q : Do I have to have a baby shower? A: Not if you change the baby's diaper very quickly.
Q : Our baby was born last week. When will my wife begin to feel and act normal again?
A: When the kids are in college.

It's Time For Fall!

I had the most productive painting weekend! I completed nine, that's right nine, paintings! I am now working on getting them all delivered to their happy owners.
This pretty fall pumpkin was one of the nine. It got me all in the mood for my favorite season. This unseasonably cool weather hasn't hurt matters either.
If you would like a fall or Halloween themed canvas, now is the time to get that order turned in. I want you to have plenty of time to enjoy it!

The Olympics

I have never been a big fan of the Olympics. It's just not something we watched much growing up and I've never really been into sports. This year, my feelings toward the Olympics have changed.
Last night we watched Michael Phelps swim his way into the record books and it was an amazing thing to see. We've also been watching the gymnasts do things bodies shouldn't be able to do. That's not what changed my mind.
Yesterday Carter was in the tub splashing around and I asked what he was doing. He simply replied, "playing Michael Phelps". Later in the afternoon Lauren had Carter's old kindergarten sleep mat out doing her "tricks". I complimented her and she said, "I need a gold medal".
The athletes who I pretty much ignore are heroes to many, including my own children. These are people of all kinds who have given their lives to their sport. Not only are they good at it, they are the best. I think that deserves a few more minutes of my time.
Go USA!

Grandfathers

My grandfathers were so special to me. Now I love that my children are so close to theirs. Tenara King ordered these two canvases for friends who recently lost their grandfather. I love the quote she chose...so true.

The words "silver" and "gold" are in metallic paint. There is also a very light coat of glitter.

You Just Can't Hide...

...that Pioneer pride! I've had so many teachers from the high school and middle school order red, white, and blue Pioneer canvases. I am so glad that the teachers in our schools take pride in their work and where they work. This creates such a respectful, appreciative environment for our students. Those are traits that I certainly want my children to see in action!
I also love that teachers form friendships. Most of my very best friends are the people I work with. Cathy Bennett ordered this one for her friend, Pam Youngblood, for her birthday. Cathy, Pam, and all of you teachers and teachers-to-be keep up the hard work. You know what they say, "Teachers touch the world".

While I'm on the topic of education, I have to say congratulations to Mrs. Betty Wood. Mrs. Wood was recently honored as one of the best principals in the state. She was a teacher at Irving College when I was a student there in elementary school. I loved and respected her then and I still do now. When I am looking for a strong female role model, she is a good one to turn to.

Mrs. Bell's Apple

What a perfect way to start the school year! Mrs. Bell is getting a bright red apple from a very thoughtful student.
My school year has gotten off to a wonderful start. I am so impressed with how smart and well mannered this group of students are. The only thing bothering me is my feet! They are so tired! It will take me a few more days to get into what I call "school shape".
